The Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described former Governor Ayodele Fayose as a betrayer and a nuisance with no political relevance.
The PDP therefore urged Fayose to toe the path of honour by leaving its fold as against making frantic efforts to ridicule the Party made governor twice.
The opposition party which stated these while responding to Fayose comments when he featured on Channels Television programme; “Politics Today’ during which he said that the PDP is now a carcass, noted that the former governor had repeatedly betrayed the Party.
Mr Dare Adeleke, Chairman, Caretaker Committee of PDP in Ekiti State, who stated the position of the party, noted that the actions of Fayose in the last few years, especially his consistent endorsement of the APC government in the state, were acts of betrayal that would no longer be condoned and or tolerated.
In the words of Adeleke; “Why has Fayose refused to leave the same party he repeatedly described as a carcass and dead entity?
“Fayose wants rewards from the same party he undermines. He admitted on air that he supported Tinubu because he is his friend and kinsman, as if Nigeria now runs on tribal sentiment and ruled by clannish association not merit.
“Fayose’s reason for betraying the party was after his attempts to takeover the party structure in Ekiti were resisted by leaders and members.
“The fact is that Fayose lobbied for control of two local government executives and was rightly denied. If Fayose was truly as politically influential as he claims, he would have moved PDP’s structure in Ekiti to APC or ADC.
“But not one ward or LGA chairman has followed him. Fayose has lost political relevance in the state, which has made it difficult for people, especially party officials and leaders to join him in undermining the PDP in Ekiti.
“Eventually, he admitted he was a bitter and disgruntled man who betrayed his own party simply because he didn’t get what he wanted. He is like a soldier who repeatedly sells secrets to the enemy and then complains about not getting promoted,” he said.
Adeleke expressed optimism that the PDP would capture the state from the ruling APC government in next year’s poll, stressing that Fayose, “the father and grandfather of betrayal”, will witness the rise of the PDP.
According to Adeleke; “We will mobilize true party loyalists, not his APC and ADC-bound jokers who will remain irrelevant back-benchers. Let it be known, the PDP will win Ekiti State and I am emphatic about this”.
