Plateau State Government To Provide 43670 Desks In Primary Schools
BY CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – The Executive chairman, Universal Basic Education Board, Plateau State, Prof Mathew Sule, has announced that the State government is preparing to take delivery of 43670 desks for primary schools in the next few weeks.
Prof Sule, who announced this in Jos while dedicating sets of classroom desks presented by the Rotary Club of Jos Central to the St Theresa Boy’s Primary School and the RCM Kabong Primary School, both in Jos North local government area of the State, noted that the classroom desks presented to the schools shall enhance a conducive learning environment for the pupils.
Sule said that public primary schools in rural areas are suffering untold hardship due to lack of adequate teaching aids and therefore appealed to groups and public-spirited individuals to emulate the good gesture of the Rotary Club to the schools.
The Plateau UBE boss thanked the Rotary Club of Jos Central, for the gesture done the benefiting schools,
President, Rotary Club of Jos Central, Rotarian Sam Ede said the Club has plan to donate class room desks to four schools in Plateau state.
The Rotary Club Jos Central filled two classrooms each at St. Theresa Boy’s Primary School and RCM Kabong Primary School.
Rotarian Ede said during the occasion that the purchase of the desks presented to the schools was made possible through individual contributions by the club members.
Head teacher at RCM Kabong, Joseph Miri in an appreciation speech, thanked the Rotary Club of Jos Central for the good gesture to the school and assured that the desks shall be maintained, and used for the purpose they are meant.
