Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has vowed that there will be no hiding place for criminal elements vandalising public property in the state.

He therefore warned that going forward, perpetrators of such illicit acts and their sponsors will be held accountable, assuring that his administration is determined to fish out and punish anyone caught or associated with such crime and criminality on the Plateau.

A fuming Governor Lalong, who spoke while inspecting a breached water pipe along Rayfield-Bukuru road, said the State government will no longer condone a situation where people deliberately cause harm and destruction to public utilities for selfish reasons.

He expressed sadness at the needless waste of water due to activities of those determined to cut corners and criminally tap from public water supply lines.

According to him, such action was not only selfish and criminal, but capable of denying many citizens portable water.

The governor however directed the Commissioner of Water Resources and GM Water Board to immediately investigate those behind the broken pipes and ensure they not only bear the cost of repairs but also face the wrath of the law.
