Suicide Bombings Kill 7 In Borno
BY MELVIN UCHE, MAIDUGURI – The Borno state Police Command on Friday confirmed that no fewer than seven persons were killed, and another six sustained various degrees of injuries during a suicide attack on Mandarari ward in Konduga Local Government Area of the state.
According to the police state command, the suicide attacks took place on Thursday night, when two female suicide bombers detonated the IEDs strapped to their bodies, killing themselves and five others, with six civilians from the same Konduga ward sustaining injuries.
In a statement issued to newsmen in Maiduguri on Friday by the second in command of the Borno police Public Relations Officer, ASP Murtala Ibrahim, the dead and injured persons have been evacuated to the General Hospital Konduga and normalcy restored to the area.
“At about 22:45 hrs, two female suicide bombers, detonated IEDs strapped to their bodies at Mandarari ward in Konduga LGA, killing themselves and five others. Six persons sustained various degrees of injuries.
“The corpses and injured persons were evacuated to General Hospital Konduga, and normalcy restored to the area,” the statement signed by ASP Ibrahim said.
