Taraba: Bwacha Urges Court To Compel INEC To Include His Name On Ballot
The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha have approached a Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to include his name on the ballot paper for the March 11, 2023 governorship election.
When the case came up for mention on Monday, only Counsels to the plaintiffs were in court while that of INEC was absent.
This was as Mr Joseph Oguche Esq., announced his presence as an interested party in the matter representing Chief David Kente, a former governorship aspirant in the controversial primaries of the APC which held on May 26, 2022.
Explaining further during a chat with journalists at the court premises, Oguche said they were in court as interested party because the Supreme Court judgement of February 1, 2023, was very explicit in granting reliefs 1 to 8 of the requests sought by his client, Chief David Sabo Kente.
He said; “The Supreme Court is the final arbiter and any attempt to circumvent the decision of the apex Court on this matter would be tantamount to labouring in vain in a graveyard”.
Meanwhile, the Counsel to the plaintiff, Mr. Boniface Yokunbo Esq, said he was in the court to hold brief for his senior counsel but was not authorized to grant any press interviews.
Following the absence of Counsel for INEC, the trial judge, Justice Bala Usman adjourned the case to Tuesday March 07, 2023 for further mention.
