Chelsea’s fortress – Stamford Bridge

Chelsea’s German gaffer, Thomas Tuchel, on Monday night continued his brilliant start to life since replacing Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge.

In snatching a 2-0 victory over Everton Tuchel continues to earn plaudits by etching his name into the record books.

Under the German, the Blues are unbeaten in 11 games while the 2-0 win over Everton has thrown him up as the first manager in Premier League history to have his team maintain a clean sheet in each of the first five home games in charge.

While Tuchel secured a personal piece of history from the game, not conceding means Chelsea have now kept five clean sheets in a row at home in the league for the first time since 2015.

History made
While forwards thrive on goals, clean sheets to a defender and goalkeeper are just as important. Interestingly, the Blues, with relative ease, repelled the Everton’s threat on Monday.

Chelsea’s goalkeeper Edouard Mendy only faced one shot on target, and at the other end an own goal from Ben Godfrey and a Jorginho penalty sealed the three points that reinforced Chelsea’s position in the top four.

Tuchel’s view
The Blues have only conceded two goals in 11 games since the German Manager took charge, and he says it is down to a collective effort and mind-set. “It is about desire”, Tuchel said.

According to him; “Defending is about effort. Sometimes, it is necessary to defend midfield. It is about reliability, trust, courage, bravery.

“They guys around you must help you, principles, reliable, having your backs covered.” – With Goal.com report
