Vice-President JD Vance has announced that the United States (U.S.) and Iran have not reached an agreement following high-stakes peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Vance specifically said that Iran chose “not to accept our terms”, stressing that the US needed to see a “fundamental commitment” from Tehran to not develop nuclear weapons.
This was as Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel’s campaign against Iran was “not yet finished”.
On its part, Iran’s foreign ministry said the talks were “intensive”, and called on Washington to refrain from what he termed; “excessive demands and unlawful requests”
This was as a BBC reporter in Islamabad reported that there was a palpable sense of disappointment at the outcome of these talks.
President Donald Trump had earlier declared that it “makes no difference” to him whether a deal was reached, stressing that “regardless what happens, we win.”
This was as Israel continues to strike Hezbollah targets, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying he wanted a peace deal with Lebanon that “will last”.
