Why I Desire To Be Special Assistant On Graveyard To Nasarawa State Gov.?- Wali
BY AHMED TUKUR LAFIA – While some are desirous and dreaming of becoming chief executives in major firms and government offices, a 30 year old man, Dahiru Wali’s best desire is to work as a Special Assistant (SA) to the Governor of Nasarawa State on graveyard matters.
Dahiru, who holds a National Diploma in business administration, said that every final resting place deserves attention, stressing that the graveyard as the last gate for both the rich and the poor, certainly need some facilities and modification.
In his words; “We need to provide boreholes, access roads, registers and even mortuaries”.
“My biggest dream in life is to serve as Special Assistant on graveyard matters to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state”.
Wali, who resides in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital, said that as SA on graveyard, he will protect the living from the dead and the dead from the living, stressing that many people have been buried alive due to the carelessness of people who refuse to conduct medical examinations to certify that the victims are dead.
He said if he is appointed as SA on graveyards, he will ensure that only those with a certified medical certificate of death from a qualified doctor are buried.
In his words; “There are situation where pregnant women are buried with babies in their tummy alive. Effort should be made to safe the baby from the dead mother”.
He said that as SA on graveyards, a register will be opened across cemeteries in the state for record of people buried for proper identification and security reasons, adding that; “I will employ guards to stop the body part robbery in cemeteries by evil men”
Wali, who is presently a driver, also said that if he is appointed, efforts will be made to provide access roads to most graveyards in the state and ensure that those working at there are also cared for.
He further said; “People will employ security to man their house but those working at the graveyard turn to beggars as people who come to bury their loved ones, give them alms before they are able to feed”.
Wali added that he will go to churches and mosques to sensitize people on the need to ensure that their loved ones are certified medically dead before they can be buried.
That’s a sensible idea.
