2023 Polls: YPP Tackles Presidential Candidate Over ‘Slow Preparations’
- Says no room for laxness, despondency
BY EDMOND ODOK – Disturbed by the lull in activities and the party’s battle readiness ahead of the 2023 general elections, the Young Progressives Party (YPP), has invited its presidential candidate, Malik Ado-Ibrahim for immediate engagement on the way forward.
Reports indicate that dissatisfaction may have taken the centre stage following what insiders described as lukewarm approach and poor level of preparedness by the Party’s flag bearer.
With these obvious concerns in mind, the Party members are demanding more commitment and dedication to the political cause by their candidate given the hugely challenging task that need to be accomplished in the remaining five months to the 2023 general elections.
The Party has therefore summoned Ado-Ibrahim to immediately appear before its National Working Committee (NWC) with detailed plans on how he intends to succeed in prosecuting the polls.
According to a statement by its National Secretary, Egbeola Wale-Martins on Sunday, the YPP said the decision to summon the Standard bearer was taken at the Party’s 20th NWC meeting in Abuja.
Egbeola said the communication gap between the candidate, the party leadership and its various organs is clearly slowing down preparations and hampering the expected fortunes of the YPP come next year’s elections
The YPP National Scribe further explained that the briefing gotten from the presidential candidate would ultimately determine the party’s next line of action.
Meanwhile, party insiders hinted Forefront that the current agitation by NWC members arose from the ‘need to be carried along’ by the presidential candidate with high expectations of campaign funds rolling into the party coffers from different quarters to prosecute the elections.
