Insurgency: Jaiz Bank Thrills Gov Zulum, Borno IDPs With Relief Materials

BY COBHAM NSA, ABUJA – Nigeria’s premier non-interest bank, Jaiz Bank Plc has pledged to continuously support stakeholders’ efforts at ameliorating the suffering of persons internally displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency in the North East state of Borno.

The Bank’s management, led by the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Hassan Usman gave the assurance on Monday when they visited Governor Babagana Umara Zulum in Maiduguri to commiserate with him and the people on resurgence of terrorists’ attacks in the State.

Mallam Usman, who presented relief materials, comprising food and non-food items to the governor, said the donation was part of Jaiz Bank’s support to Borno State Government in the areas of improving livelihood and living conditions of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

He said: “We are here to recognise the sacrifices you have been making and this we consider our widows’ mite to assist in ameliorating the suffering of the displaced persons in the state.”

Usman said it was the Bank’s utmost wish for the mayhem inflicted on the people and the Northeast part of the Country, to come to an end soon so that “we would have our one time peaceful Borno back to normalcy.”

Welcoming the management team to Borno State, Governor Zulum expressed appreciation to the Bank for its support in this trying times.

According to him, “What matters is not the quantum of the materials, but the spirit behind it. We are eternally grateful to you, may Almighty Allah reward you, and may He take you back to your destinations safely.”.

He assured the team that the government of Borno State is also ready to support Jaiz Bank in its vision and mandate delivery in non-interest banking nationwide.”

During the visit, the Bank’s Managing Director presented relief materials, consisting of food and non-food items to Governor Zulum for onward distribution to victims of the deadly attacks.

A statement issued by Bank in Abuja on Tuesday said among the items presented at the occasion were 600 bags of rice and 350 pieces of clothing materials.
