Jaiz Bank Boosts Hajj Savings With E-channels, Tech

BY COBHAM NSA – Jaiz Bank Plc has assured that its e-channels and technology packaging will adequately capture and cater for all intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia under the new Hajj Savings Scheme.

Managing Director of the Bank, Hassan Usman said their investment in technology has been quite rewarding with the deployment of various platforms such as the mobile app, *773# USSD code and agent banking to easily capture all intending pilgrims.

Usman, who spoke at the launch and sensitisation of the Hajj Savings Scheme in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, said the Bank is adequately prepared for a smooth and hitch-free start-off in the state and country in general.

He said with about 40 branches nationwide and the electronic platforms to capture Hajj savings’ contributors, Jaiz Bank is firmly positioned to drive the scheme and ensure intending pilgrims without the wherewithal gradually plan and actualize their dreams stress-free

The Managing Director, represented at the event by Divisional Head, Corporate Services, Mallam Ismaila Adamu, lauded stakeholders in Kogi for their prompt response and commitment to ensure the scheme is successfully implemented in the North Central state.

In his remarks, Chairman of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Alhaji Zikirullah Kunle Hassan said the Commission would collaborate with the various State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards to leverage on the scheme in accessing liquid funds required to effectively plan for Hajj operations early.

According to the NAHCON boss, such an arrangement would help in securing better bargain for accommodation and other services for intending pilgrims.

In appreciating all the guests and his colleague, Alhaji Ishaq Ja’e, at the occasion, the NAHCON chairman, who was represented by Imam Ahmad Sa’ad, praised the Kogi Muslims Community for always being responsive in meeting the obligations of Hajj from the Commission.

He also seized the opportunity to highlight the huge benefits inherent in the scheme for intending pilgrims nationwide.

For the Chairman of Kogi State Hajj Commission, Sheik Abdullah Lukman, the scheme, would allow Muslim Ummah to prepare ahead of time, by making gradual deposits through Jaiz Bank plc, as part of ongoing reforms in the nation’s Hajj system.

Sheik Lukman said the new scheme is more accessible and would, in the long run, bring down the cost of Hajj for Nigerian Muslims through proper planning, as well as investment in Shari’a compliant instruments by Jaiz Bank, where the saver will be earning profits in return.

Participants at the stakeholders forum agreed that the concept would make it easier for intending Muslim pilgrims to perform one of the five pillars of Islam, the Hajj.

On his part, the Chief Imam of Ankpa, Imam Salman Adam praised Almighty Allah for making the scheme possible and encouraged the Muslim Ummah to embrace it fully.

Stakeholders at the forum included Chief imams of various zones in the state, Federation of Muslim Women of Nigeria (FOMWAN), market leaders and intending pilgrims among others.
