Leave Peter Obi Alone, Campaign For Your Candidates – Metuh To Arthur Eze, ‘Mini Amadiohas’
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh, has advised popular Anambra billionaire businessman, Arthur Eze and those that have assumed the position of ‘mini Amadiohas’ to concentrate on campaigning for their candidates and leave Peter Obi alone.
Metuh was reacting to Arthur Eze’s recent declaration disassociating himself from the presidential ambition of Obi as the Labour Party (LP)’s candidate, in preference for Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) standard bearer.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the former PDP spokesman, who urged people should stop playing god in their small corners and let the former Anambra State Governor be with his presidential aspiration, said “Please, let all the ‘mini Amadiohas’ in our land campaign for their candidates and leave that poor man alone.”
Urging all those openly against Obi’s ambition to face their businesses and campaign for any preferred candidates of theirs, Metuh particularly urged the Anambra-born businessman (Eze) to avoid being entrapped in political punditry that would eventually lead him to infamy, noting that having already amassed so much wealth, the businessman should be contented and grateful to God.
The ex-PDP chieftain further said Eze should refrain from making certain categorical statements because man is not God and should therefore not appropriate to himself the role of the Almighty creator.
Pointedly, Metuh said; “My dear Prince, God has blessed you for decades, you have acquired untold riches and unimaginable wealth. Calm down and do not allow political punditry to lead you to infamy and public opprobrium.
“Some of us are now non-partisan and will no longer make public comments on our political choices but then, we are not expected to make certain categorical statements. For indeed, no man is God and no man should attempt to play the Almighty role.”
Going down memory lane, Chief Metuh disclosed that during his time contesting for offices in the PDP, his kinsmen in Anambra State were against him and even threatened him in court, but he won on all three occasions despite their refusal to back him.
Hear him; “In 2008, I was rejected by all the Anambra power brokers and yet won my election as National Vice-Chairman of PDP. In 2012, every major political powerhouse in Anambra fought me and I still won and became the National Publicity Secretary.
“In the 2013 repeat convention, they ganged up and even attempted to use the court to stop me but God still gave me victory at the convention ground.”
On Obi’s presidency, the now-retired politician said; “This year, they said he has no structure. They said he has no money, they said he’s not known outside of Anambra State; now, they say he has no crowd in his rallies.
“I do not know who will win the 2023 elections, but it will definitely not be determined by the usual political crowd who are paid to attend rallies. Check your family, check your domestic staff, check those gainfully employed and fully engaged in public and private employs; they do not attend rallies but they will surely vote. Let the candidates focus on voters not professional rally attendees.”
Reports had recently emerged quoting Authur Eze as distancing himself from Obi’s presidential aspiration because, by his calculation, the former Anambra State governor does not stand a chance of winning votes in the South-West and in the North.
In a video that has gone viral on social media, the businessman was heard making the comments in the presence of Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, who is among Peter Obi’s ardent critics, traditional rulers, women groups, and other prominent people in the state.
