- Insists ex-EFCC chairman described Tinubu as corrupt
In what appears a direct confrontation, prominent female activist cum politician, Hajiya Naja’atu Mohammed has vowed that she would not under any circumstance tender an apology whatsoever over her comments that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu had described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as corrupt when he was governor of Lagos State.
She therefore challenged Ribadu to take legal action over her recent remarks in which she quoted him as describing Tinubu and some former governors as corrupt, saying that the same Ribadu, who previously described Tinubu as corrupt has suddenly aligned himself with the President’s administration as National Security Adviser (NSA).
The NSA, Malam Ribadu, had in a response through his legal counsel, Ahmed Raji, SAN, in a letter dated February 4, 2025, demanded a public apology and retraction from Naja’atu Mohammed, stressing that the claims had caused him “unquantifiable damage.”
Ribadu in the letter by Raji, SAN, debunked the insinuations saying that he never made such remarks concerning Tinubu, Senator George Akume, or Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and accused Naja’atu Mohammed of inciting public sentiment against him as well as attempting to damage his reputation.
He therefore warned that failure to retract the statement within seven days and publish an apology in five national newspapers would result in legal action seeking exemplary damages.
The letter read: “Privately or publicly, our client has never expressed the above viewpoint about President Tinubu and/or Senators George Akume and Orji Uzor Kalu, which you attributed to him.
“In fact, our client has never held such a viewpoint about the president; hence, it came as a complete surprise to him when his attention was drawn to the aforesaid publication by you against him.
“In the foregoing premise, our client hereby challenges you to provide evidence of your allegations therein against him; which have cast.
But, in a swift response to the letter demanding an apology, Naja’aju Mohammed dared the NSA to forge ahead with his legal option, saying that she would not tender any apology just as she insisted that Ribadu while serving as Chairman of the EFCC called then Governor Bola Tinubu and some other serving governors “corrupt”
