- Names Sen Ibrahim Hadejia as Deputy CoS
True to widespread public speculations, President Bola Tinubu on Friday confirmed the appointment of the Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff (CoS) to the President.

Rising from a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also appointed former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
Similarly, the President named Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS) who will operate from the Vice President’s office.
The appointments were conveyed in a statement on Friday and signed by Director of Communications at the State House Presidential Villa, Abuja, Abiodun Oladunjoye.
Born on June 25, 1962, Femi Gbajabiamila attended Mainland Preparatory School for elementary education and later Igbobi College in 1973, where he completed his secondary education.
Femi’s advanced level was at the King William’s College, on the Isle of Man, United Kingdom, before proceeding to read law at the University of Lagos, graduating with Bachelor of Law, with honours in 1983.
Called to the Nigerian Bar, in 1984, his working career started at the law firm of Bentley Edu & Co., in Lagos, before establishing his own law firm, Femi Gbaja & Co. He was first elected to the House of representatives in 2003, to represents Surulere 1 constituency of Lagos State.
Gbajabiamila, who served as Minority Leader of the House of Representatives in the 7th National Assembly, was elected Speaker of the House of Representatives in the 9th National Assembly. He scored a total of 283 votes to defeat his opponent, Mohammed Bago who polled 78 votes.
