Nigeria’s sprint queen and world record holder, Tobi Amusan, has booked her place in the women’s 100m hurdles final at the ongoing Tokyo 2025 World Athletics Championships.
Amusan powered to victory in her semi-final heat by clocking an impressive 12.36 seconds (-0.2) to secure her spot in the final.
The win saw her finishing ahead of the Netherlands’ Nadine Visser, who came second in 12.45 seconds, and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska, who crossed the line in third place at 12.51 seconds.
The 27-year-old world record holder, who set a stunning 12.12 seconds mark at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene, United States, looked comfortable throughout the race, controlling the field from the start.
Given her showing so far at the ongoing championship, expectations are high that the track queen is capable of reclaiming the world title she won back in 2022 while also confirming her status as one of the sport’s finest and most consistent hurdlers of all time.
