  • It’s Magnus Oku Books & Arts Fiesta 2025 on parade

BY EDMOND ODOK – One of the highly anticipated cultural gatherings of year 2025, the Magnus Oku Books and Arts Fiesta 2025 will take the centre stage in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital City on Thursday, 27th November.

The event brings together writers, artists, leaders, youth innovators, and culture enthusiasts under one roof for a historic celebration of African creativity.

Slated for the iconic Cyprian Ekwensi Arts and Culture Centre, Abuja, the fiesta will come alive with the Red Carpet and Arts Exhibition that kicks off at 2:00 pm while the main event starts at 3:00 pm prompt.

The theme of this year’s event, “CELEBRATE • EDUCATE • EMPOWER”, sets the tone for a transformative cultural experience designed to inspire minds, elevate voices, and spotlight Africa’s brilliance across generations.

The organisers indicated that event will feature: The unveiling of five groundbreaking books by Magnus Oku; Powerful spoken word and cultural performances as well as Art exhibitions

Other highlights will include Lifetime Legacy Awards honouring iconic national figures, and Youth empowerment sessions and presentations

With an extraordinary line-up of dignitaries and national icons, the event will be chaired by Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, former Governor of Kano State and one-time Minister of Education.

The keynote Speaker is Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande while the Special Guests and Lifetime Legacy Awardees include: Prof. Wole Soyinka (GCON) – Africa’s first Nobel Laureate; Obong Victor Attah – Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State; First Lady of Cross River State, Bishop Eyoanwan Bassey Otu; Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (rtd), – Former Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); Hajiya Hauwa Ibrahim Funtua – First International Broadcaster; and Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, Esq.

Also on the list of awardees are: Solomon Dalung – former Minister of Youth and Sports; Dr. Panam Percy Paul – Legendary Gospel Minister; Muhammadu Maigari – Minister of Labour and Employment; Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim – Minister of Women Affairs; Professor Nentawe Yilwatda – National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) since 2025 and former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development as well as several other distinguished leaders and cultural icons.

Speaking ahead of the event, Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Kennedy Musa Tifato
urged Nigerians, artists, youths, and lovers of culture to show up in their numbers.

According to him; “This Fiesta is more than an event — it is a movement. A call to celebrate creativity, to educate the mind, and to empower a new generation of African thinkers. We invite everyone in Abuja and beyond to come and witness history.”

He said with vibrant exhibitions, brilliant performances, and inspiring conversations expected to be on display, the Magnus Oku Books and Arts Fiesta 2025 promises to be a landmark experience.

Tifato said the organisers will happily welcome the public at the event that is meant to celebrate and empower them as part of this cultural Renaissance.
